Overview
A noise attenuation barrier is mostly built along roadways to enhance the local
environment. The barrier reduces the impact of road noise to adjacent residential,
commercial and parkland environments.
DESIGN
- Creates a visually appealing motoring experience as urban art,
using shape, colour, texture, light, shadow and rhythm
- Reduces driver distraction from the surrounding environment
- Provide a safe separation to limit access to major roadways to pedestrians
and animals
CONSTRUCTION & MATERIALS
- Steel or timber columns set in pile or on strip footing with panels
- Panel materials include timber, concrete products, acrylic,
recycled plastic, sheet steel and other profiled metal products
- A combination of materials can be used in one wall section
QUALITY
- Good noise walls are built to last while maintaining the designed
look and feel, requiring little maintenance
- Material selection includes attention to the detail of fixing and
support elements
- Good design of panel fitting systems allows efficient installation
and an enduring, functional wall
